My Special Person & Me (MSPAM) is a parent/caregiver support group for families with a child with autism or a developmental delay for ages up to 7. Children and their siblings are welcome and encouraged to attend and interact with other families going through similar challenges. Parents can listen to what others are going through and share their own personal experiences with autism.
Guest speakers are scheduled on a regular basis to speak on topics directly related to the struggles that accompany parents, toddlers, and young kids on the spectrum.
Leisure activities are essential for the child affected by autism as well as family members. Fun is what we are striving for!!!! Come out and join us for group activities that include: sensory board building, holiday parties, and fun-filled group outings in our local community.
This program in not limited to kids that have been diagnosed with autism. Children with developmental delays are welcome. Parents may be in the process of getting a medical diagnosis Some parents may be struggling with the possibility that their child may have autism and are not ready to take further steps towards a diagnosis. We have been through it or are in the thick of it.
MSPAM is designed for the parents and children to enjoy, have fun ,while learning about autism. We collaborate with several agencies to provide the most innovative information available.
An ASD diagnosis can be overwhelming. There is simply too much to deal with. As a group, we can tackle these issues together and make it easier on families with their journey into the wonderful world of autism and its many charms.
